About the Owner: 

Trevor Mead is a 36 year old Lewis County native living in Lowville. For the last 9 years, he has been working at a local company, but decided it was time for chance. Trevor plans to take Nitro Soft Plastics as far as he can, developing it into his full-time business. 

Start-up Story: 

Trevor started Nitro Soft Plastics with a family member, and decided later that it was best to continue on his own. Having always been passionate about fishing and loving doing it, Trevor thought long and hard about opening a business, and everyone tells you- "do what you love doing," so Trevor decided to follow his dream. Trevor sees an opportunity to offer high-quality baits to his community at an affordable cost. 

Why did you choose to do busness in Lewis County?

"It's a small community, and we're all connected in some way here. I've lived here all of my life, and I want to give back to the people and community that has given opportunities to me." 

What advice would you give to someone starting a business in Lewis County? 

"Don't ever give up. Don't stop. It will seem like it's never going to happen, but it will. People might tell you to stop because it's not going to happen, but let that be your drive to make it happen. Never stop."

What are you looking forward to in 2022?

"I am always experimenting with new baits, and have something new in the works, now. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and growing the awareness of my business during our launch year."

Are there any local partnerships or organizations that have helped you along in your business journey? 

Naturally Lewis has been a great help as I am a part of the DBA Lewis County program. I've also gotten help from the North Country Chamber of Commerce, Novel Marketing Co., and Northern New York Bassmasters.
